How to build an online presence
I recently got asked an interesting question on Quora about how to build a personal brand. It’s a great but difficult question to answer! In this article, I’ll try to give you some advice on building an online presence. This is something that I started trying to do almost a year ago now and I’ve absolutely loved it!

Value, value and more value
Create non-stop value and expect nothing in return. Give people advice, encourage them on their journey and take the time to show appreciation to others.
Use many platforms
Try as many platforms as you can — Quora, Twitter, Youtube, Podcasts, Medium, Reddit, Discord… You can take some of your content, slightly modify it and repost it on a few different platforms, saving you a bunch of time. I would recommend starting on a couple (e.g. Twitter + Medium) and then slowly expand to other platforms as you gain traction.
Be genuine
Be a real person — do not just have an icon of something generic or of your initials — put your actual photo. You are much more likely to connect with others if they can see what you look like — it establishes a level of trust.
Another part of being genuine is avoiding creating fake content which aims to try to get a lot of engagement. I tried doing this but it never really worked. If you want to establish real connections you need to post interesting and valuable content — share your journey, what you’re learning, your failures and your successes!
And finally, be consistent
Most importantly, be consistent. Post every day, connect with people every day and enjoy every step on your journey! This is something we hear all the time but never really implement it. Try scheduling content in advance, blocking specific times for certain tasks and making content creation a priority.
