How To Get Your First 2,000 Users For Your Startup In 10 Days

You don’t need to spend thousands of dollars on advertising.

In the beginning, you will not have a lot of money to spend on advertising. However, there are plenty of free ways you can get your company out there.

  • Talk to friends and family about your company.
  • Get free ad credits (offered by many social media platforms) and spend them on paid ads.
  • Use social media outlets like Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Reddit or Discord.
  • Word of mouth can also be very powerful, particularly when it comes from someone who genuinely uses and loves your product or service!

We’ll discuss some of these in more detail later in this article, and there are many more free opportunities — do some of your own research, and you’ll find many more.

Create a great website

Create a website that’s easy to navigate and use elements in your design to drive traffic to your most important page.

Your website is your online home and the place where all your info will be. For this reason, it’s critical that your site looks professional and credible. Use colours that attract attention and make sure the website loads quickly.

One of the most important things you can do to get people to sign up for your product or service is to have a clear call-to-action (CTA). Your CTA should tell visitors exactly what you want them to do next, whether it’s signing up for a free trial, downloading a free eBook or watching a short webinar.

Make sure the copy on your CTA button drives home why someone should take action.

Use social media

Create a social media page: this will allow customers to share your company with their friends and family online.

Post content that is relevant to your target audience — add calls to action in the content, such as “share my post”, “comment” or “visit our website”

Engage with people on the page: reply/like comments, answer questions, etc.

Be consistent.

Connect with other companies

Unless you’re in a very specific niche, it’s likely that your company is not the only one offering similar services.

Try to figure out who your closest competitors are and identify what makes you different from them (e.g., price point, audience, geographical reach, etc.).

After identifying your competition, seek out companies that offer complementary services but are not direct competitors.

Reach out to those companies and ask if they would be interested in cross-promoting one another on their respective websites.

This is what I’ve tried to do with one of my startups, the Tech Startup Community, where I have networked with fellow community builders, not only with regard to cross-promotion but also just to learn from them.

To summarise, find other companies that offer complementary services but aren’t direct competitors and ask them if they would be interested in cross-promoting one another on their respective websites.
