Let’s write an article in 20 minutes!
It should not take so long to write an article. In this article, I’m going to show you how to write an article in just 20 minutes!
So let’s get started.
Part 1: the idea (2 mins)
You may have a list of ideas in a book, Notion or somewhere else so just pick one of them.
If you don’t already have a list of ideas, I would suggest keeping a sort of “repository” of ideas. For me, I use Notion and a small black book I carry with me almost everywhere.
If you need an idea, try looking on Twitter, answering questions on Quora, talking to people on Discord or any other platforms which might be helpful for getting ideas.
Part 2: brain dump (8 mins)
In this stage you just write an article — you put some words on the page. First, do not worry about the quality of your content. Let the words flow out of you.
Don’t stop and edit. What you’re writing doesn’t even need to make sense.
For this article, I tried an interesting technique for dumping some content onto the page — I used a transcriber on my phone to transcribe what I was saying!
There were many mistakes with the transcription and with what I was saying, but I edited all of them out after and it all turned out great!
Part 3: editing (5 mins)
This might be the most boring for you (like for me) but it’s absolutely critical.
You need to create a clear distinction between writing and editing.
Once you’ve written the article, then you go back and read every word, asking yourself if what you’re writing would be valuable for you.
You can use a tool like Grammarly to make the editing process easier if that’s helpful.
Regardless, you need to read through the article, fixing any spelling mistakes, grammatical errors, factual errors and generally neatening it up.
Step four: publish (5 mins)
Now that you’ve finished your article, you’re ready to publish.
Just press publish.
Don’t wait, don’t spend hours editing - just publish it.
Remember that your article is never going to be perfect and you can always make improvements later.
Try distributing it to your network and then repeat the process again!
Every time you publish one article, your writing skills are improving.
Thank you for reading this article I really hope you found it helpful! Good luck with your writing journey!
